Looking for a PRS stock for my savage short action. MPA competition? Any better?

Chassis-style:
AICS
Cadex
XLR
MDT
MPA

**Note: I don't have any first-hand experience with these, I just came across these names frequently when I was curious about running a chassis system. My personal choice probably would've been the XLR Element, for what it's worth.

"Traditional" stocks:
McMillan
Manners

No first-hand experience with McMillan, but have heard very good things about them. I currently have a Manners EH-1 that my 6.5CM sits in, and it has been great so far. My only complaint is that I wish I would've sprung for the adjustable comb, but I was being a cheap ass at the time and figured I could get along without it. A friend of mine runs the same stock but with the carbon fiber layup so it's lighter and looks tacti-cooler with the carbon fiber showing through the finish.

I prefer the chassis systems over traditional stocks but that is just me.

The XLR and MDT are my personal favorites but they are all great stocks.

I have a Mcrees G5 folder on one of my hunting rigs and it isn’t bad either

Mpa is the best for prs style shooting, mostly due to the fire control hand position. But the arca cut and barricade stops in the forearm are nice to have as well.
The ai ax had the nicest quality, but was harder to work with due to the terrible grip shape. Why someone doesn't make a set of skins with an improved grip for them, I just can't figure.
Mdt sucks in my opinion. I've owned all of their chassis, and they've ranged from "wtf bad" to just "mildly annoying" bad.
Cadex was nice, great quality, but a little overbuilt in spots and could use some refinements on prs features.
Xlr is also nice, but the folder mechanism is a bit of an afterthought, and lacks refinement on grip and prs features.

I've had my savage in a Mcree, a good solid chassis but heavy, HS precision, decent stock, especially after stockdoc add the cheekpiece to it, Manners T5, and and an XLR. The manners T5 works the best for me, the Mcree being a close second. The Mcree also has a nice folding mechanism. I'd like to try an MPA

A ton of guys started using MPA this year in PRS, I believe they were the second most used system by the pros only behind Manners stocks. If I were going to run a chassis it would be either MPA or Cadex because I think they look the best and of course thats the only thing that matters LOL

I have a xlr element. I like it a lot. Never handled a mpa but they look nice as well. I am sure you cant go wrong with any of them. Just have to find rhe one that YOU like.

I would also add OP, make sure you like a chassis system before you buy if possible. I myself have found that I prefer a traditional stock as of late. It's a big investment and you dont want to be out a grand just to not like what you buy.

Look hard at KRG. They have had "improved firing control grip" long before most chassis makers got on that bandwagon. I've went from B&C Medalist to Manners T4A to McMillan A5 and then stopped at KRG, and I've found they fit ME best. For the dollars spent it's hard to beat.

Well said kabarNC!! KRG is AWESOME! Have 2, will soon have 3.

Had a McRee, didn't fit me or my need and I found that I don't like all metal chassis' for a variety of reasons, weight and cold (temp & "feeling") being tops.

XLR Element... I hate the butt stock of the things. Everything else is good to go.
KRG 180 Alpha... flexed too much in the plastic forearm for my liking. Never really liked the cheek weld.
MPA BA Lite... Good all around chassis. Thumb slot is OK, but opted out of it due to too short of a forearm.

Currently running the MDT ESS chassis. There is nothing about the chassis that I don't like. Could be a bit lighter, but it is overall the most impressive chassis that I have ever owned or used. The modular options with the forearm make this one a no brainer. The offset cheek piece is awesome. Super adjustable, and by far the MOST comfortable chassis out there, bar none.

Cadex would have been my 2nd choice. I place this one 2nd, simply because I hate the idea of spending that much money on a chassis. YMMV...
