Looking for a removable brake for my OBR

I've got an 18" OBR in 7.62 on order and I want to find a muzzle brake and/or flash hider that I can put on and take off without too much difficulty when I want to use my suppressor. I'm sure at some point I will buy a quick attach can, but for now I'm limited to my screw on Tiger Shark and want a muzzle brake that also serves as a thread protector. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for a removable brake for my OBR

Is it 308 or 556? The 308 is threaded 5/8 x 24, the 556 1/2 x 28. I'd look at one that doesn't need to be indexed. The Badger FTE is one example, assuming yours is a 308 (they don't make a 1/2 thread version).

It is in 308 and threaded 5/8 x 24. Sorry I forgot to mention that in the original post.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking along the lines of the Badger FTE brake because I don't want something that needs to be indexed, but i don't have any first hand experience with one. Also, I was hoping to find something that doesn't require any gunsmithing to install like the Badger does. Honestly, I will shoot suppressed 90% or the time so the brake/flash hider will be more of a thread protector than anything.

Maybe something like a Vortex flash hider would be a better alternative. I don't think they require any kind of washers or indexing. Maybe even an AAC blackout.

Thanks! That might be the ticket. Of course now I'm waiting to here back from my SOT buddy about the availability of the Surefire FA762SS can. If I can get one coming in the next 30 days then I will probably just suck it up and go that route. I'm still at least two months from getting the OBR so it won't be that big of a deal.

Things never happen as fast as I want, but that is life. I've got 14 NFA items in the safe already so I'm getting used to it.

I'm waiting on my first one right now....Gemtech Sandstorm to use on my 6.5x47 and .308....and hopefully an OBR later on.
