I'm moving my NF NX8 from my Daniel Defense 300Blk to a 223 SBR and need a new scope for the DD. I wanted to put a NXS 2.5-10x42 on it but it's not in budget. So then I found the Viper HS in the same mag range except with a 44mm obj, but only in the BDC reticle. I dislike BDC reticles. So I'm looking for other ideas.

    Requirements...
    30mm tube.
    Prefer capped turrets.
    Mil or duplex reticle.
    Illumination nice, but not needed.
1-6, 3-9, 4-12, something in that magnification range.
Budget $500, but if saving that extra $100 is worth it I will.

Currently looking at a VX-R 3-9x40 with the Firedot Duplex reticle.
    Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Might seem a little odd for the application but my out and out favorite scope I have owned for clarity is my a Leica ER 2.5-10x42. CRAZY BRIGHT light transmittion. They do ahve an ERi that has illumination as well. capped turrets. Duplex or BDC reticle.

You can probably find a good used one for a great price because everyone is wanting to move to a FFP scope and Mil.

Thanks, but that scope is way out of my price range. Not sure what the older model went for, but something tells me they aren't going to want to let it go for $500-600. That and I would prefer to buy new.

So.... I hate to be that guy but this question pops up like 3x a week. Did you use the search function, google, anything?

You’d be better off by doing a lot of research, come back with some options and ask for people’s real world experience with them.

And btw asking about a duplex reticle scope with capped turrets in the $500-$600 range isn’t going to get you far on this forum haha.

I bought one on a really good sale at Sportsmans Warehouse for maybe $750 and I sold it a couple of years later for less than $600. I get that with buying new, although I think you can trust people on here to sell something nice. I have had Vortex PST models, some decent Leupold and the Leica was no comparison to those. The illuminated models are probably pricier, mine was a non-illuminated model.
