Suppressors Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

That's a pretty vague question.....

What's your price range?
What material do you want to go with?
QD or thread on?
Do you have a preference in manufacturer?

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

I like/prefer all my cans (Rifle/Centerfire) to have a QD mount because of the amount of black rifles that I have.
My LMT MWS uses the same can as my 5R Win Mag,(AAC 7.62SD)and so on. My AAC SPR/M4 goes on my 6.8spc platforms and will go on my future 260 and 6.5 creedmoor bolt guns. AAC or Surefire are my preferred cans

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

I'm moving to Texas in a few months I want a QD and I have been looking at Surefire but I'm not sure whether the fluting on the barrel will affect the threading of the barrel. The fluting starts at about 2.50 inches down the barrel and the surefide brake/adapter needs 2.75 inches for the threading. Does anyone know if it will still work?

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

whats the OD of your barrel at 2.75 from the muzzle? find out the ID of the mount and you'll have your answer. you may need to profile the barrel in addition to threading it. thats a spendy can btw!

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

If you wanted to run the SureFire you could always go with a 762K can instead of the SS and you would only have to thread your barrel and turn it maybe 1/4 inch past the threads depending on your barrel contour. If your barrel is less than .775 at the muzzle you should just have to have it threaded.

Re: Looking for a suppressor for my Savage model 10

While I really enjoy my Surefire 762SS I think they are a little expensive. $1600.00 for one 308 can is a lot, plus you will have to buy the mount. Telling us what your budget is would really help.

And if I'm not mistaken when you make you move to TX there is going to be a waiting period for you to become a "resident" of TX. At least thats how its done here with handgun purchases for newly moved people. I would check local laws on that though.

..

Read the thread below in its entirety.

You have no limitations with a fluted barrel.
Suppressing a fluted barrel requires thoughtful design and execution.
You will need a great gunsmith if you choose to alter the length or prepare for any alterations to the fluting.
Fluted barrel work does not in any instance include flutted thread protectors for very obvious reasons.
Any questions, come on back.

Shoulder work on a fluted barrel separates the men from the boys.
The work can be outstanding and the resulting accuracy and suppression enhanced.
Most of the quiestest, most precision capable cans are not QD and for good reasons.
Surefire is not, to my mind, on any short list. Search and read SH for simular threads.
More than a spoonful can be found if you really want it.

KYSS338 is asking all the right questions, I too am curious about your answers.

Good luck, nice rifle.
