Hi guys,
So I am in the market for a new scope for my 6.5 Creedmoor gas gun that I will only be using on a range for primarily shooting out to 300m and maybe, in the near future, outwards to 1000m or a bit further. When I saw Vortex came out with their new Strike Eagle 5-25 I thought I'd wait and take a look at it to see how well it does since it seems like a very reasonable package for the price point. But within the last day or so, I saw that a vendor up here in Canada has the Bushnell DMR-IIi on sale for a price, that combined with Bushenll's 30% off going on right now, would put it at a price of ~1310 CAD which would only be about 120 more than what the Strike Eagle 5-25 would run me after taxes.
I am just not sure which way I should go.
I know that the DMR-IIi has been around for a few years now and is a proven performer, but at the same time, the Strike Eagle being newer may have an updated optical system that will put it somewhat close to that of the DMR-IIi (although tracking is still an unknown at this point). Recticle wise, I like the looks of the EBR-7C better than the G3, but I think both would be usable for me. And with respect to usable elevation, after the zero stop is set, the DMR-IIi would probably give me as much or more than the Vortex would allow for. Other than that , most of the other features between the two I'd say don't sway me in one direction more than the other. I know Vortex has a great warranty if I ever need it for anything, but from what I've heard, Bushnell will also get the job done (so long as it isn't your fault).
So do you guys think I should just go for the DMR-IIi or pass up this opportunity and wait to see how the Strike Eagle 5-25 turns out after more people get their hands on it?
Thanks in advanced,
Goober
