This is a Remington R25. It is almost new and functions flawlessly. The only problem I have with it is that the free float tube threads just a little bit to far. When you tighten it all the way down the sling stud is no longer centered. So when you try to use a bipod it wont work. If you unscrew it a little to center the bipod the tube is to loose so it isn't stable. I'm looking for a way to fix this without drilling another sling stud hole. I thought about drilling and tapping a set screw hole on the threads. I wanted to ask someone who would know before I did. I appreciate any help/advise.
Please and Thank You
Nathan

Re: looking for an easy fix

did you buy the tube used or soemthing? or was this a complete rifle you took the tube off for something? i know the ar15 version uses the bushy setup which has a lock ring for timing. Do you have a pic of the nut area?

Re: looking for an easy fix

I'm at the station right now but when I get home I'll take some pics of the threads. I bought this rifle new and it was like this when I got it. The guy at the store said that it was supposed to be like that.

Re: looking for an easy fix

you must have found the worst informed crack smoking salesman in the store. it was "supposed" to be like that cause he has no clue or no desire to make the rifle right before selling it to an unsuspecting customer. first i would talk to the store manager just so they know what their sales people are doing for a sale and to the customers. what ever is on the shelf that needs to be sold is always the way its supposed to be. sad. the more i think about it, go kick that guy in the nuts

now, just use some purple loctite on the free float tube. thats easiest if you dont want to drill again. you can take it all apart and try to do this or that, but without tools, it may be a hassle. if the tube isnt wobbly when the stud is centered, your good to go. easy, simple and cheap...just like my perfect woman

I think axeman is right about the dude at the store. It's my fault to I guess for not educating myself first. Here are some pictures of the threads and thread area. Again, I appreciate the help. I can't see the locktite working because there is so much play in the threads when the stud is centered.

Re: looking for an easy fix

Looks like a DPMS handguard setup. your options are locktite or as posted above remove fromt he FFT till it index's right. The second option would most likely involve a gunsmith. The third option is to get with remington about it. This might be the first option actually.

Thats what i was just thinking when i started to look at the pics. If it dont work them just get a quad rail and ugly it up.
