So this might sound like a dumb criteria for scope selection but it is becoming more important the older I get...

I am looking for a FFP scope for PRS type shooting that has large adjustment scales and/or bold, easy to read ones that allow quick and accurate adjustments. I am not willing to sacrifice repeatability/optical quality to get this so just trying to figure out what my options are for higher end scopes with at least 16x magnification.

I had an opportunity to try out a couple of NightForce F1 ATACRs at the PRS Expo a few months back and I really like them for this and other reasons...just wondering if there are others out there that I have not run across yet?

Thanks,
Stephen

The NF are great for less than ideal vision because they mark every .5 mil as well as full mil.
USO b series does this as well but the turrets are a bit harder to see because they’re low profile.
Minox Zp5 has a super bright white paint they use on the turret markings so it’s easy to see. Vortex gen 2 razor have wide spacing which is great.
Of those if reconmed the ATACR line if you like their reticles.

Tangent theta/premier are easy to read.
I guess I will have to see if I can find a Tangent Theta to look at in person - the pictures I am finding look like the indicator triangle is fairly large but the tick marks on the knobs themselves look tiny. BTW, was looking at the TT525P. Only finding discontinued models from Premier?

Tangent are updated premier. They bought premier and updated the design.

Thanks for the info! In addition to the NF, have seen the Vortex up close and find the color combination (scope color vs. tick marks and numbers) very difficult to see. This is unfortunate since the turrets are really large diameter and one rev=10 mils like others, which means each increment is further apart than most. I will have to see if I can find the others (particularly the Minox) to check out in person.

The uso and vortex have similar spacing, but the uso is very low profile so it can be a little hard to see. Again, I think for less than ideal eyesight NF has the best labeled turrets from the scopes I’ve encountered. The Minox is bright ass white but there’s 15 mils per rev so they’re pretty close together.

Watch this video for reference.

Minox, S&B, Tangent/Premeir, Steiner, and ANY scope with more than 12 mils per rev are exceedingly small to read in my opinion and I hate them all.

Without doubt the easiest to read has got to be the Vortex Gen2 RAzor with is well spaced 10 mil knobs. Look into those for ease of reading knobs.
The NF scopes are actually pretty decent and prob second to the Gen2 Rxr
The new Kahles has the oscilating turret marks that are pretty cool and help in counting as well.

I agree with DT above. This is the single most important issue to me these days with scopes. I am going to use High End optics so the rest of the issues are mute to me, I want to see the numbers! I have sold several top scopes b/c I can not see the damn numbers and 12 to 14 mils on a turn sucks...

With that, I use NF because I can see them. The Bushnell DMR and up lines are nice and the numbers are very visible. I can see and use the Vortex..The Steiner m5x were visible
I am waiting on the ZComp, It appears they will be old eye user friendly... I sure hope so.
If not, I will stick with the NF...

Good Luck...

This year I was running a Vortex Gen1 Razor and a Bushnell DMR2, both are lower price point scopes and have excellent, tall turrets with easy to read numbers. Switching to a Minox ZP5, this is one of the things that has taken me the longest to get used to.

The Uso Scopes, Leupold Mark 8 and Mark V , and the Athlon Cronus BTR are pretty easy to read. I've recently switched all my Scopes to 10 mil per Revolution. It makes things much easier.

Stephen, I hear what you're saying, I'm approaching 50 and notice my eyes keep getting worse at focusing on near objects. I will say for 15 mil turrets I find the Minox ZP5 has very good lettering which is easily seen but the .1 marks can be a bit tight. The new ZCO scopes also appear to have very distinct/bold lettering. One other thought is the Revic PMR428, not so much for it's clear lettering but for the fact that it has a HUD inside the tube which allows you to see all your settings without taking your head away, if I was getting into PRS I'd have to seriously consider the Revic.

Here's some images of the ZCO and Revic

ATACR is your best bet with the half-values written out. I consider it a "mistake-proofing" feature as well... for whatever reason, I tend to dial a full MIL under what is called for. This mental error doesn't occur with the half-value starting at me.

Those .5 markers are a nice touch...

Bill,

Someone else had mentioned the Minox so that one was already on my list to try and look at in person but the Revic is a new one on me and looks pretty cool! I will have to take a close look at that - you could make adjustments without even taking your head off the stock!

Thanks,
Stephen

Have you tried the Razor. That is one of the main things I like about the razors is the turret layout
I have but find the color combination makes it hard to read - I love the big knobs and extra space between tick marks....if it were only a different color combo I think it might be the way to go!

Thanks,
Stephen

No question about it. The Nightforce B.E.A.S.T. is the way to go. There is one in the marketplace for $ 3000 in mint condition with a $ 200 Nightforce mount and magnification throw lever and Tenbreax caps . It's a steal. Those things sell for over $ 4200. I can vouch for the seller :)
