If you are looking to actually make these rounds you are wasting your time you can't get the powder they use. If it's for informational reasons I'm sure someone on here knows.

Re: Looking for military load data-

wish yer question was that simple but your gonna be out of luck with getting components identical...that said search around a bit and youll find lots of data on how to duplicate these using other components.

This is not a true statement! You can buy pull down powder from Jeff Bartlett and Pats relaoding.

There have been countless threads on this board and others for people asking the recipe for the 5.56 Mod 1 MK262 and every post always concludes that powder is not available to the public. If it were no one would be able to keep it in stock. Show me a reliable source that names the powder and a link to where it's for sale I'll be the first one to buy some.

Re: Looking for military load data-

I was refering to the 7.62 loads.

The 5.56 load I do not have info on!

Since Talon Mfg was shut down the pull down and Mil surp was on a fast track to being gone

Re: Looking for military load data-

I'm sure lake city & black hills does not use some magical powder that is only found on the highest peaks in Japan. they are using a available powder I suspect IMR4895 or RL-15 for 118LR and Ramshot TAC for MK262. But I'm trying to find a definitive answer.

Actually they do, the powder at least for Mk262 is not available to the public, do a search if you don't believe me. Everyone and their dog want to duplicate that round and try to with just about every popular powder, if the actual powder they used was available there wouldn't be so many posts about this subject.

Re: Looking for military load data-

Also even the bullet as far as I am aware is not the same as what Sierra sells to the general public. I just bought 1000 Sierra 77 grain bullets with canelure and the cannelure notches are spaced further apart than my mk262 rounds. Not that that is a big deal but they won't be identical. The new IMR 8208 xbr has velocity very close to mk262 maybe even a little better and has excellent temperature stability if you want to try to duplicate the round. That powder was used recently by some ammo companies to make heavier grain sniper bullets in .223-5.56.

Not true for the M118LR (current or original)

I won't publish the load for the original M118LR because to caused problems in the M14's during Iraq 1.

Current load is

175gr SMK
43.1gr/RL15
OAL = 2.800"

LC brass and primer which is unknown.
