Looking for some user feedback regarding which can is quieter/ better all around.

Or is there Another can out there better than one of these IRT 6.5cm

thanks hide

I'm in the same place as you. From what I gather, both are good cans. The 9 will be a little quiter but 9" on the end of a 26" barrel is really hard to justify especially on a PRS rig where you have to almost thread your rifle into some shooting positions as is. I'll probably end up going with the Ultra 7 assuming I can find one in stock next spring.

Ya that’s a good point to consider for the competition guys. I’m currently running a 24” barrel. OAL isn’t much of an issue for me, just trying to get some first hand knowledge from guys that are currently running them.
The other issue is availability like you said... keep me posted if you find any good info on either.

I have a 9 and there have been times I wished I had a smaller version, but it is a sweet can, if you have any 30 cals you may want to consider that as it will work on a 6.5 as well, hell get the 338 and your covered for a while.

IMO Ultra 9 is quieter on paper, but not to my ear. I prefer my Ultra7 for most applications.
I’d like to know more if you have a chance to go over some of your pros/cons each. I’ve seen some videos that reference what you’re talking about when they test the cans and have a decibel meter at the muzzle and another near the shooter’s ear.

I have a dedicated .30cal can. The Surefire FA762SS, probably the best all around .30cal can that Surefire has ever produced. I’ve shot 6.5 through it and it’s still hearing safe but I’d like a can that’s been specifically designed for the caliber.

Ultra 7 Pros:
It's a Thunder Beast
Sounds the same as the ultra 9 to me
2" shorter than the Ultra 9

Ultra 7 Cons:
None

Ultra 9 pros:
it's a Thunder Beast

Ultra 9 Cons:
it is 2" longer than the Ultra 7

I have the TBac 6.5 ultra in both 7" and 9". I'm shooting an AT or AX 26" in 6br, mostly off a mobile shooting table, bench, or tripod where overall length doesn't matter so much. 90% of the time I grab the 9". That long stick with that can in 6br is quiet. I use the 9" w/my .260rem as well.

I cant apples to apples compare them because my 9 is a 30, and the 7 a 6.5. They seem about equal to my ear. When the cartridge gets bigger, i start to hear more of a difference. I prefer the 9 on my 25 PRC and 6.5 PRC for example. Since I mostly shoot creedmoor sized cases, the 7 gets the nod almost always. I’m a little obsessed with things being handy these days, so shorter gets a higher priority.

I have the Ultra 7 6.5 on my 6.5 SAUM hunting rifle with 24” barrel. With the suppressor it’s a long bugger. Ultra 7 makes it a lot nicer to shoot without ear pro and doesn’t spook game very much.

Idk I'm building a 31" straight 1.25" 308 with a 338SR for tac class so what's too much

Patiently waiting for a 7" SR mount to compliment it. And a Maverick for shits and giggles

After reading this thread, it seams that if a guy wanted two TBAC cans he should either go .30cal in 7” and 5” or 7” and .338. Seems the 5” would be a nice hunting can or to put on a SBR to take the edge off while the 7” stayed on the precision bolt gun.

i'd wait for shot to order a TBAC but that's just my opinion

i'm guessing my 338SR is gonna have a very very nice little brother

Yeah Ultra 9 suppression levels but smaller.

My guess is a 6" 338 Ultra, possibly SR?

If its non-SR, ill probably keep my 338 Ultra and Ultra 7 order

If it is SR, not sure what ill do, maybe switch both orders to SR

Question. With all the trap kits available, trap kits being way cheaper and Form 1's being completed so quickly why would anybody buy an overpriced metal tube and wait way longer foe it?

In my opinion, the one I want to use more is the better one. I have 5", 6", and 9" cans, and the one I consistently use the most is the 6" because it balances sound suppression with maneuverability best. It's not significantly louder than the 9", and it's way more maneuverable. TBH I built a rifle with a short barrel just so I could justify having the 9" can. I don't use it on anything else.
