Looking for other Remington 700 owners

Yep.
i watched what a 1000 yard competition was like on one of the outdoor channels that had a segment on it. These guys unload 10 rds or so as fast as they can rack the bolt and pull the trigger. Semi auto fast damn near. The object is to shoot as fast as you can before the wind changes. They get 10 minutes for 10 shots and use all of 8 seconds of them. They arent shooting these world record rifles. They are locked down tight and recoil straight back with no chance of moving from the initial setup. A five year old could do it. This discipline is not about the shooter. It is about the rifle and ammo setup. Gun shoots itself.

Still takes a shooter to watch wind cycle and mirage cycle and know when to shoot. Yeah they shoot fast, like you said, to stay in same conditions. Unlimited is rail guns, br still has light gun and heavy gun. Those heavy gun rifles are about 4-5lbs lighter than prs rigs, lol.

What difference does it make if you use a 5 axis? Your just eliminating steps and maximizing efficiency.

As for accuracy %, I don’t know. But I do know my custom action cycles and fires faster than my 700s and when firing a string quickly to keep the group tight and in the same wind, action speed makes a difference and increases accuracy.

Because it is dead nuts.

Funds may not be an issue to you, but they sure as hell are an issue to me.

But if funds are not and issue...?Specs and performance, again a custom action beats even the best services 700 action, because now we can put money into servicing and upgrading a custom action, above the performance already offered. Granted not all custom actions are better, some are just expensive knock offs. But some are fucking awesome.

Cycling my Remington 700 actions are nice and smooth. But cycling my Tooley Custom action is like fucking your wife when she’s ovulating,?like Keith Stone says “ that’s smooth”.

It really is a noticeable difference.

Straight is Straight. Period.

Again don’t take this as a knock on Remingtons,

What is dead nuts? Using a 5 axis machine?

Dave Tooley is a Genius.

All actions are tools. They cycle and hold the round in the chamber. The firing pin hits the primer which cause an explosion. Pressure builds and the buulet exits the barrel.

What the F does smooth have to do with it?

700s have been eliminating people since the 60s.

Smooth is low on the list. Maybe not for Snowflakes....

Yeah I agree. Too many people say it’s the gun and ammo not the shooter with BR. My question would be, have you ever shot BR? The shooter has a little something to do with it...

I have. I have also accumulated numerous worthles trophy's and plaques that for some odd reason I haul around from stae to state....

Non value added.

Now see, this is where your wrong. Your not going to get a action as straight on a CNC machine as you would on a lathe where you can take the run out down to .0

So now your going to try and insult me by calling me a snowflake? There’s no need for that.

Here’s two things where your wrong.

You can chase the run out down to a lower decimal point with a lathe than you can with a 5 axis. So straight is not straight. Straight is actually never straight because you can only chase the run out down to a point. But this requires more time. LRI is advertising lead time. This is why they do it on a cnc mill. Which is fine.

As for being a tool, my firing pin strikes faster in my Tooley Custom than my 700 actions which results in less time between the time I squeeze the trigger and the round goes off. Which means less movement and more accuracy.

As for smooth, you must have never cycled a high end bolt action if you don’t understand the benefits of a smooth running action.

your

You're

Ok......

Chad Dixon If I may a comparison to put this into perspective.

If your going to go Pro Stock drag racing, you need around 1400 flywheel hp to be competitive.

Without it, stay home.

So, were racing and you have big dollars. You do a bunch of work and find 40 more hp. A gain of only .03%.

Because our cars weigh the same and likely have a similar setup, you are going to win. I won't catch you.

So what? This is guns.

Same rule applies.

1400hp in a bolt action rifle starts with a premium barrel installed by someone competent.

The other 3% is your stock, trigger, blueprinting, bedding, etc.

It matters, but if your barrel is shit, no amount of lipstick is gonna make that pig worth taking home.

Factory barrels are hit or miss. Always have been. Always will be.

Just be aware of this.

Ah now your really showing just how much you know.

So case preparations or chamber concentricity or headspace don’t come into play with accuracy?

Go back to wherever you used to get the Precipitation trophy’s and learn something.

Atta boy. keep after it. You might get there if you're lucky.

Lol na. I never get into it with people online so I’m actually enjoying this.

It’ll take a little more then some Nancy ass boy name calling to make me mad.

Fair enough. have a good evening and keep stroking that smooth action.

Dave Tooley is the undisputed King.

Keep after it, someday the dots will connect for you...
