Looking for precision dies

I've got both Redding and Forster dies, generally prefer the Forster. However, within the micrometer style seating dies there really isn't any difference, except the Forster is less expensive.

I'm also keeping my eye out for a competition seating die.

I'm using a Co/Ax press, did I read somewhere that there is one die set that will not work because the micrometer is to tall?

I went with the Forster seating die. Has a great system for aligning case and bullet so you end up with a nice straight assembly.

What's interesting is that the Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension seating dies use a very similar system with two die sets costing less than a single Forster Die. I've had great luck with both .308 and 30-06 seating using the Hornady's.

Sometimes just paying more doesn't give one better results.

Amen to that. The absolute cheapest loads: Winchester white box 45 grain shoot the best out of nearly all factory loaded ammo in my 22-250. Weird. I blew some coin on Redding dies in hopes they have more consistant low run out averages. Who the hell knows .....

"redding, forster, Hornady and RCBS in that order of best to very good. "

I agree with that, to the extent that the first two are tied for first place, the second two are tied for fifth place and all others are tied for sixthed place. On average. And the "others" still tend to be very good. IMHO.
