I want a SAKO type extractor for my 700 Rem. long action bolt.

Who is really good at this work? i.e. cutting into bolt lug/head and installing properly.

Who fabricates the best extractors?

I want to keep my bolt as it's been trued and otherwise "accurized" by HS Precision plus it's stainless with a black Electroless coating.

I think all the smiths on this site can do the job. Have you looked into the m16 extractor? I think you might be happier with it in the long run.

Don't know what percentage have trouble but last week I spoke to a Smith at Oregon gunssmithing about a sako/ rem bolt job and he said he had quit installing them as he and another Smith he respected had had bolts crack after the work. Apparently he believed this work weakens the bolt too much. Gave me pause and wondered if others have had trouble?

I have done literally a hundred or more. If it is done CORRECTLY they perform great. Never heard of cracking a bolt. There are those guys that install the extractor just by cutting the slot and then, like me, they do the "full monty". I can usually turn it around in less than a week. Email me:
