I am in the look for a new set of hearing muffs for shooting USPSA and 3 gun. Right now I am using a pair of ear plugs I have molded for me and using them it is hard to hear the buzzer. So what kind of muffs would you all recommend?
Go the electronic route. I shot bullseye under a tin roof, and the noise was horrendous with 50 shooters. Used a combination of the molded silicone and Peltor Tac 7 Classic which I still use. Think they're called P-7 now. Never had a problem with timers or range commands. My only complaint is the size when rifle shooting.
The MSA Sordin is also very popular and gives slightly more protection. I think Triad (Hide Vendor) has them.
I've had the Howard Leight and there ok, when they work. They have been known to have trouble with the wire connections. I'm also in the market and have looked at the peltor, sordins, ext.. Has anyone used a few pair of the higher end muffs and are the higher $ ones worth it? Real world results, not what you heard. I'm looking for noticeable differences in shut off speed ext.. The Howard Leights are slow in that reguard.
