Ok well long story short i bought this pistol and the guy won't answer my calls so I just want to fix it. It's a sig p229 40s&w. someone had the bright idea to bore out the slide.

Yeah im just trying to avoid that haha. I don't know why those slides are 500 bucks. I have looked at just buying an x-change kit which has the slide, barrel, and everything for 300, but i'm just trying to look for cheaper ways out.

Looks like there's lots of possibilities- however you'll probably end up not saving much money trying to fix it. By the xchange kit and sell the parts you have, disclosing the issue up front.

That was my first thought but figure the cost for OP would add up quick

Is it just me, or does the whole front face of the slide also look like it was milled off?
I have an idea how I would fix this if someone walked into my shop with it...

Is it possible someone had some kind of compensated aftermarket barrel on it? Just a thought. IDK...

You will need to thread the barrel to match the comp. Then it will need to be timed and glued in place. Or replace the barrel with a longer barrel that uses a clamp on style. I'm not sure if anyone makes a clamp on cone comp.
It will all likely be custom made and unless you can do it yourself, you will have more in it than it's worth.
Making a bushing to fill the gap will be your easiest solution.

That diameter hole kinda looks like the barrel hole in the slide of my P229 Sport. It has a BEEFY oversized barrel. You can get Sport barrels from Bar-Sto in any configuration (I have them in 9mm and .357 SIG). They will even do sport barrels that work without a comp so that may be the key for you. Also the Bar-Sto barrels are match grade and shoot amazingly well.
Although I wonder why someone would take a sport slide and mate it to a two tone, aluminum frame...
