Does anybody have any good sources for steel picatinny rail blanks. I recently acquired a Serbu 50 BFG and have to move the scope back to achieve a more solid and comfortable shooting position. I seem to see aluminum picatinny all over the place, but am looking for steel that isn't more than .5" tall. Needs to be at least 6 inches long (that's what she said). Sorry, that was too easy.

Also, it can be unfinished because I will parkerize it after the milling and drilling is complete.

Brownells is a good source (see post above). Also, if you don't find anything there, try one of the following:

Evolution Gun Works
Mounting Solutions Plus
Nightforce
Murphy Precision

You might also check with Mark Serbu and see if he has any thoughts or opinions on the issue as I am sure this has come up before.

Good luck!

I doubt you will find steel blanks, but maybe. the aluminum blanks are extruded 6061 and come in 12' bars. Everything we use is billet form and we cut it down from there.

If you are handy enough to make a base you should be able to whittle one out of a piece of bar stock. It wouldn't be too bad t do on a manual mill.

I like the LowPro Rail Guard Black, now to find a good source
that is cheaper then $12 per rail !!

How about a deal on package of 4, come on now its just rubber..
