ive recently purchased a savage model 11 in .308 that i plan on building into a tactical rifle but im going to build it with top notch parts one peice at a time...

in the meantime i would like to get a .223 to play with

awhile back i had a savage 110 in .223 and i fully regret selling it, it was set up as a heavy barrel hunting rifle that was a tac driver, i recently went into a gun store and that had a savage .223 in a 110 that was already setup, had a choate ulitmate sniper, heavy barrel, picatinny rail, xtr rings, bushnell 3200 scope and a factory reworked trigger, the only problem was the stock was in pretty rough shape... the rest of the gun was in good shape the only problem is i have no idea how many rounds have been down the tube... is it possible that it could be wore out? they only wanted 600$ for the gun....

Re: looking to get a .223

Gunbroker has a NIB Savage 10FP in .223 for $525 ($550 for Buy it Now).

I'm running a Savage 10FCPHS in .308 and I love mine as well.

Good luck!

Re: looking to get a .223

I'd say the scope, rings, and base are worth about $200 used, so figure $400 for the rifle. Sounds like it may be a little rough, so offer $500 or $550 and see what they say. I doubt a .223 would be shot out, but it's a chance you take buying a used rifle. If you shop around I'd think you could buy a new set up for $6-700. I'm pretty sure the model 12 varmint can be found new under $500 in most places.
