Hey im working on figureing out a new custom build using a Remington 700 sendero's action.

I plan on putting it in an AX Chassis and want the bolt spiral fluted. Where would i have to send this in to get it done? Anyone on here do it?

Also changing the regular knob to a bigger tactical knob, is it doable by me or is that something else a gunsmith would have to do?

Thanks

There was someone here that posted pictures of his. It looked awesome. When I get home I'll try to dig it up for you. He charged 75 iirc.

And he will do the bolt for you ad well. You need to do some welding and tapping I think. I had mine done.

what was turnaround? I heard he has unbelievable turnaround times.

Those barrels look so sexy too. But i was told not to get a barrel fluted after the fact.

Carl is still fluting barrels.

Here is another place for bolt fluting.

oh ok. His website said otherwise. I just emailed him about it, but good to know! I'm just afraid it might hurt accuracy. No hard proof, but I've heard it and afraid to take the chance.

If the barrel is cut rifled I wouldnt worry about it. If it isn't cut rifled then as long as they stress relieve it after fluting it should be fine. Again this is just what I understand as far as fluting a barrel goes.

Kampfeld Customs says they arent taking anymore spiral fluting barrel work. Is this because hes backed up or is he not doing it anymore?

it's a rock creek barrel, so yes it is cut rifled.

and he is taking barrels, I just got an email back from him.

I might send in the bolt, and if I like it, send the barrel in august when I'm gone for few weeks...

+1 for Karl, he did the fluting on my bolt and it turned out beautiful. He does First Rate work, and the time frame is really good too. I was impressed.
