Using the Sinclair chamber plug I am measuring the chamber of my Rem 5R at a whopping 2.055. With SAAMI trim length at 2.015 with a trim to of 2.005, can this be right?
Any other 5r owners that can chime in with similar results? I was hoping to keep from trimming so often so wanted to find out the no kidding length but wow.
Sinclair recommends trimming .024 from max, so I guess my brass could get out to 2.030 or so but wanted to confirm first.
Accuracy has been great but always chasing more as usual...
What does the possum hollow gizmo cut to btw for those of you that use it, might get it and just trim anyway since it looks fast. Need it to be consistent though...

you can store an extra valet key in a factory Rem chamber for nights on the town where they don't allow bolt guns...

ha- about right. I have no idea how it shoots so good. So far with every group I have ever shot with it at a hundred it has a running average of .6 moa. I always get a few groups in the .2s during load development. At 760 it has only been 1 moa on average but I have a feeling that I am to blame for that with my relatively poor wind reading skills since the groups are always better vertically.
I think it is likely outshooting me at 700+ so I dont know how far out it is truly sub-moa.
Regardless, in an effort to find out will someone measure their 5r chamber for me?? Maybe longer neck brass would help the load I am shooting but 2.030 sounds a little suspect....
