I have a buddy that been having his action screws coming loose repeatedly. He’s running a Terminus Zeus action in a MDT acc elite chassis.

The chassis is not bedded and the action screws are torqued to 65in-lb. Yet the screws seem to come loose with 100 rounds of shooting.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

I had that problem for a while with the front action screw despite using loctite. Turns out my habit of greasing the lugs was causing the oil and grease to work its way down into the front action screw and loosen it over time. Imho the front action screw going up through the action into the bolt recess is crap and a poor design but they are all like that :(

Would a small lock washer/star washer not be useful for this ?
Looks like MPA has a copy of what Vision does.

Probably. There’s something really wrong though if screws are rattling loose in the first place. Either the current interface between action and chassis is completely fucked, or it’s got some magic resonance. Perhaps the screw fit into the hole is not correct. Large receiver threads or small screw threads, etc.

I seem to recall that the MDT action screws came with split spring washers. If not and in any case, a split spring washer works wonders on both of my MDT ACC chassis’. A SA and a LA.

Edit: you have to buy these specific to machine head cap screws.

Be sure to follow the instructions on how to use the wedge lock washers. For the washers to work properly, the serrations must bite into the chassis and the head of the screw. This requires testing and may require additional torque on the screws.
