I basically trolled the internet trying to come up with a mounting system that would mount a Leupold 3.5-10x50mm LRT low enough to use without an adjustible cheekpiece on a hunting rifle. The rifle has a #5 Krieger barrel on a Remington action. All of the available Picatinny rails mounted the scope really high. I changed to the Burris XTB Weaver-style Solid Steel Bases and medium height Zee rings. The bell of the scope has .060" clearance of the barrel. I added a Beartooth Products cheek pad and all is really well. If you need to add some elevation, you can use the Signature Zee rings with an off-set insert.

So,, if you have a need to mount your scope low, give these a try.

No. The change would only be .037" which would still allow the scope to fit, but would require (depending on your face configuration and head position) some sort of comb elevation. Also, I am not positive the rings would fit the bases. (I know Seekins won't.)

The key is in the bases. I don't know of any other steel, and certainly no rail, that is as low while giving you the ability to remove and replace the scope easily or provide front to rear mounting options.

The 50mm objective is part of your problem. There are mounting systems that can go quite low if the scope allows.

Here's a Burris double dovetail system with a 44mm objective scope. Even at this height, I still need a cheek pad. Sometimes living without cheek elevation just isn't possible.

If you want Picatinny, one of the lowest I've found are Burris 2-piece Picatinny bases with TPS super-low rings. Unfortunately you'll loose the ability to cant the scope. As you've mentioned, this is where the Burris Signature rings can help

I am sure those are the same bases I am using. Of course the 50mm objective is the issue. With a 40mm objective, I use the same set up but with the super low 1" Zee rings. I also have a cheek pad on that one. COmpetition shooting really made me cognizant of the importance of maintaining good head position.

Here are a couple pictures of my rig:
