They're different to use... My experience is with a TA-01NSN with a Doctor sight on top for my work rifle here in the sand box. The cheek weld is way up there no matter how you mount it, and is only a secondary. I know most only use it as an entry/backup sight, but I didn't get much shooting value from it. Quite honestly I prefer a 45* offset sight.
My suggestion is to try one before dropping the coin on it. It's either love it or hate it, and I think a BAC capable ACOG negates the need in close range engagements.
