I'm some what new to the LPVO gang. Ive ran aimpoints on my ars since I got in to shooting rifles. Any suggestions on mounts and placement of the optic? I have a vortex viper pst gen 2 and im looking to put it on a 13.7 vltor rifle. Thanks in advance!

The Burris P.E.P.R. mount is inexpensive compared to those mentioned above and the QD version has never failed me and returns to near zero [1 - 1 1/2 inches] every time. If you don't need QD it is even more secure and cheaper. I find the large rail locking nuts on the non QD cosmetically unappealing and a possible knuckle buster.

PS: Corrected Bushnell to Burris:oops: thanks Desert Raven

Ill keep that in mind!

Do yall run offset sights or offset red dots?
Depends on your purpose for the rifle. I use mine for coyotes and have a 3-9 scope on a Burris P.E.P.R. mount (very solid for 4 years now) and a 45-degree offset red dot in case one comes in really close and surprises me (happens fairly often). I also agree with what DannC said above. YMMV

I'm looking to make this a "do most" rifle. I want to be able to shoot 5yrds to 400 with the same set up

I had a bobro QD mount that worked great. Didn't really end up needing the QD part though.

New mount is a badger C1. I got the high (1.93") version. Scope height is a factor I never really considered until I started messing around with different setups. I think lower 1/3 (which is 1.7" I think) height is still the best all-around for AR15 platforms, but I personally really like the higher mounts. The bobro is lower (1.5"-ish) and it took a little practice to get used to for me personally, having mainly shot with lower 1/3rd height red dots before going to LPVOs.

For all-around type guns, I run LPVO and offset red dot. No LPVO I've looked through is as fast as a red dot at 1x. Having the best of both worlds is worth the extra weight in my mind. I used my holosun on a DD 1o'clock offset pic rail for a while, but there are lighter and better solutions.

Thanks for that! I've been digging the badger mounts and considering the 1.93 height. Ill probably got badger or geissele because.. why not
