Hi Guys, new to the forum and first post. I bought a DPMS LR-260 with the intent to do some long range shooting. For optics, I am using a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10X50 mounted with Burris Tactical Mounts. After shooting about 20 rounds I replaced the trigger with a Jewell. The trigger was outstanding but after about 20 rounds I started to suffer light primer strikes with some primer flow back into the firing pin hole. These are the same loads that were fired with no problems with the old trigger group (40.5 grains IMR 4350/140 grain A-Max @SAMI specs. I sent back the Jewell and ordered a Giessele DM trigger. Seeing this is my first AR, I am looking for any type of recomendations as far as stocks, gas blocks, buffers, and anything that will improve this rig.

I have the same rig, 41.5 / 42.5gr H4350 - 142 sierra (2720) , went with Magpul stock, RR2stage trigger, adjustable gas block helps a lot, tried Tubbs spring but did nothing for mine. Got rid og metal mags and only run Magpuls now.

22moa badger base and IOR 4.5x14-50 (wish it was a 6x20-50 or so)

Thanks Pat. That's the kind of information I am looking for. Did the adjustable gas block take out allot of the pounding of the bolt with the hotter loads? I have been working up a load with BL-C2 right now. It acts like a faster burning powder does't cycle the action as hard as the slower powders do. How do you like the IOR scope? I've been thinking about the Weaver Tactical now that they will have a mil mil model. Like the Nightforce also.

Re: LR-260 Opinions and some help

Yes, the adjustable helped smooth the cycling. I realy like the MP8 reticle on the IOR and it tracks perfect / i run a Nightforce with MLR reticle on my bolt (also great). I hear the new Weavers are very good, same with the new Supersnipers. I realy like the new Vortex scops, glass is great and can get mil/mil, moa/moa.

ZS, Jewell clearly states thier trigger is not intended for use on AR-10 type actions, (.308). Not meant to bust your chops, just posting to inform others who may not be aware. You've allready done the one thing to improve it, that's changing out the trigger. Great rifle, and good shooting.

Re: LR-260 Opinions and some help

flyfishguide, I ordered the trigger from Brownells. Under the facts section there is a question if the Jewell can be used on AR-10's. Brownells statement reply is that it can be used. So I figured I was good to go on that and the problem was addressed by Jewell. The trigger was a great trigger with good adjustments and a clean break. I have Jewell triggers in my high end bolt guns and they are awesome. I can believe Jewell hasn't really fixed this hammer spring issue better. I should have listened to others that have been down this road.
