    This gun may find its way in my safe here soon.... Just wanted to hear opinions on barrel length. I'd like to shoot out to 8 with it... just curious if a 16" is capable. I'm leaning towards the 18" but if the extra 2" isn't needed I'll go with the shorter of the two.

    Depends what you want to do, for punching paper less than ~600y it isnt going to make much difference. Beyond that the added length provides higher initial velocity, testing shows you need 20" to fully burn the powder in federal gold 168gr match for instance.. Search here this subject has been discussed into the ground.

    And consensus here is not to attempt a hunting shot at ranges that are going to matter so not for that use either.

    Personally I'm waiting on a Larue OBR, and I'm holding out for a 20" there.
