So Im working up 9mm loads for a fullsize M&P. Ive had good luck with power pistol and CCI primers. Mostly plinking Ive been using NATO pulled bullets that ive been getting for $5/100 and actually they have been performing really well. this is 15 yds unsupported. I am fairly new to reloading for pistols and im looking for a good target bullet for this set up. any suggestions?

Re: M&P 9mm load development

that load was 124 FMJ (nato surplus pulls) 5.7gr Power Pistol. CCI small pistol primers and Im getting 1120fps in a M&P with a 4.25" barrel.
there arent too many aftermarket parts for the M&P. anyone have any experience with storm lake barrels. just wondering if they are much better than the factory barrel?
Im thinking about getting into IDPA this spring so im looking to get the right load and not sure best choices for an accurate bullet.

Sierra Match Kings if you gots deep pockets.

The M9 Ball guns built by David Sams tend to do pretty awesomely with plain old Winchester 115s.

Re: M&P 9mm load development

Try 6.1/6.2 grains of HS6 under a 124grain Montana Gold bullet. I know a lot of USPSA shooters are shooting them. 6.1 to 6.2 grains gives right around 1050 to 100 FPS which when figured up meets minimum power factor no problems.

My current load is 6.2 of HS6 under a 124grain Berry's plated bullet.

To meet minimum power factor of 125 figured by USPSA rules a 124 grain bullet needs to be going aproximately 1010 fps for a 3 shot average.

Power factor is figured by taking the weight of the bullet times the average speed of 3 rounds fired over the chrono and divided by 1000. USPSA requires a power factor of 125 to meet minor power.

Re: M&P 9mm load development

So I just ordered a 4.95" threaded storm lake barrel for my M&P. Anyone have any experience upgrading there m&p. I'm hoping to try a couple different compensators on there just to play. Shame no suppresors here in good ole michigan

Re: M&P 9mm load development

+1 on the montana gold bullets. I just started shooting them in my Glock 19. I've shot some groups with these things that would make a rifle shooter happy. I'm using the 124gr CMJ's and 4.1gr of TiteGroup and getting about 1020 across the chrony. Its enough to meet power factor for IDPA so I have no interest in pushing them harder.
