I need to order a slide stop assembly for my Smith and Wesson M & P 40.
I tried Midwayusa and Brownells. Its been over a month and they still dont have it in stock. Didnt have any luck on any of the other big sites. It doesnt seem to be a common part to stock.
I have not tried Smith and Wesson directly. Im not sure if that is even an option.
Does anyone have any ideas where I might find one?

All S&Ws have a lifetime warranty. Call them up and they will send you a label, for free. Return the gun and they'll install a new slide stop and ship it back to you within a week.

Like said call smith and wesson. If you can do the install yourself they will send you the part for free and you will have within a week (Most times) Even if you have ten thousand rounds through your gun smith and wesson will still send all the springs and parts needed to keep the gun going.

I added some material to the factory assembly to take a lot of the pre travel out of the trigger. So sending it back to Smith is not an option. I wanted to have a spare on hand incase anything happened to the gun. This is a handgun I shoot pretty often.

This might sound like a stupid question, but if I call Smith and Wesson to replace the part do want the replaced part shipped back? Ive never had to deal with smith for a replacement of gun parts.

Call up smith and wesson. They will not ask you to ship anything to them. Tell them what part you need replaced and they will ship you a new one. It really is that simple. On mine when it hit 4,800 or so rounds I needed some new springs and such so they sent a bag of goodies for me. It even had a new firing pin and striker along with a new extractor and just about every spring on the gun. I wouldn't worry about it, just call!
