Rifle Scopes M1 vs M3 turret question

I understand that the M1 has 1/4" clicks and the M3 has 1" elevation clicks at 100 yards. At longer distances, I think that the click values are increased or multiplied (in 100 yard increments) by the distance.

Example- at 600 yards, one click on the M3 would be 6 inches and one click on the m1 would be 1.5 inches. Am I (almost) correct in this thinking?

Re: M1 vs M3 turret question

Yes, you got it. The m3 is very fast put not real precise.

The m3 has zero stop while the m1 does not. I have had both and like them for different purposes. In my opinion on an m1a or ar the m3 turrets would work great, on a precision rifle the m1 would be a better choice.

Re: M1 vs M3 turret question

1.047" x distance in yards = size of moa at that distance.

example... 1moa(1.047) X 550 yards from shooter = 5.7585 inches. so a M3 turret in a perfect world would move your impact 5.75" at 550yards and a M1 turret would move 1/4 of that.

Leupold are IPHY not MOA..

At least all the data I have shows IPHY doing box test..,Leupold says there scopes are 1moa=1" at 100 yards so they confuse us with that yeah ..

Re: M1 vs M3 turret question

The ones I own say they are moa but real world testing shows them to be near moa and near IPHY depending on where you are in the adjustment range and which leupold I am using...
