Gunsmithing M16 Extractor Question

what is the correct depth to mill a 700 bolt for M16 style extractor on a 308 bolt face? It seems to me if you are not carefull you could mill into the firing pin hole. The instructions that Badger Ord. sent are for a 338 Lapua. A 308 needs to be deeper. Thanks for the help.

Did you get the extractor meant for the 308? The pdf installation instructions http://www.badgerordnance.com/folders/downloads/3/Extractor%20installation.pdf ,show a part number 306-90 for the 308. I would call Badger Ordnance directly and talk to a tech.
