I've been doing my research and have notice that most people that do a build on a badger ordnance m2008 action use either a T4/T4a or an AICS.

I'd like to use this rifle as a hunter/match rifle(I'm hoping to get into matches in the next year or so) but I'd say that it will he 75% hunter 25% match. The caliber will be a 308Win but I'd like to get a second barrel in 284Win after a while.

I've narrowed my choice to the AICS 2.0, Manners T3 or T4. Weight is definitely an issue with the AICS since it weights in around 6lbs, the T3 and T4 can be had for between 2.5-3.5lbs. I've never shot a rifle in an AICS so I have no experience there. I've owned a T4 and really liked it but I don't know if I'd call it a "hunting" stock.

I know I could of pick a little action to use but I really like the 60 degree bolt throw on the M2008 and I've heard alot of good things about it.

For the barrel I picked a rock creek m24/m40 contour. Not sure on what length I want yet but it'll either be 20" or 24".

I will be using a DBM from CDI if I go with a manners.

After all that here is the question.
I'd like to the rifle to weight in between 10-15lbs fully loaded. Which stock would you go with if you had to choose?

Re: M2008 stock help

If you wanted to keep the weight down I would suggest a carbon Manners stock in your favorite flavor. The M40 barrel isn't going to be light though. 20" is going to be the ticket for a 308 hunter. Still very good velocity and should balance ok and stay compact.

Only problem is its metric so you have to make sure the smith can do it. </div></div>

Tikka T3 is 75*

Re: M2008 stock help

AICS should be around 15lbs with a 20" M40 barrel depending on scope and mount. If you don't mind waiting a bit, Kinetic Research Group's Whiskey-3 chassis will be available soon. Because of more mainstream ergonomics, the W-3 chassis seems to fit more people properly. The AICS is more of a love it or hate it kind of a stock.

Weight aside, the AICS is a great stock. I've shot an AIAW a fair amount and I like it a lot.

Concerning weight, it will force you to work out a bit and get stronger, so its not really a disadvantage rather a plus....(unless you get lazy in which case it would suck because you'll have a hard time lugging around the thing)
