M24A2 Magazines

Several years ago I purchased two M-24's from Remington. I had connections with Remington and these two were part of the 45 over run rifles they had in inventory. When the M24A2 program was winding down, my contacts asked if I wanted one of my M-24's upgraded to the M24A2. You know the answer. The rifle was a complete package. The only problem is that they only supplied two magazines. The bottom metal is HS Precision and the magazines are HS Gen 1 Long Action magazines. Does any one out there know where I can get three more magazines?

Thanks!

Assuming it has the correct A2 bottom metal, which is an 'off menu' Badger p/n 306-85 the mags are Accuracy International AE magazines.

edit: Missed you have HSP bottom metal

Those look like HSP mags, as you said. Unless they were a special run, you should be able to get them direct from HSP.

Have you been able to compare the feed lips and followers with a 300wm magazine?

I checked with HS a few years back. They stopped making the Gen 1 magazines about seven years ago. The Gen 2 magazines, do not work in the older HS bottom metal. I checked with Marty at Badger and he confirmed I have HS magazines. Badger does make the trigger guard assembly for the M24A2 which use the AI Mags. But the early M24A2's used the HS trigger guard assembly with their own Gen 1 magazines. Those extra holes in the deployment case have bothered me for years! I was hoping someone would have a few in their parts drawers somewhere.

Thanks,

Looks like I found four long action Generation 1 magazines. Small gun shop in Long Island had four in the original wrapping. Question that I have ; were the original HS Bottom Metal and magazines switched out for Badger Ordnance BM and magazines for all the M24A2's at some point by the army?

Marty from Badger Ordnance is an unbelieveable resource when it comes to sniper rifles from the 70s on up. Maybe earlier, but he has all his shit in one sock when it comes to the "modern" obsolete sniper rifles. You might make some time to email him, or call to discuss. If anyone can point you in the right direction, it's probably him.
