There are some very good postings on the M40 back on page six of this forum. For stocks as 30cal fun states thats the Numrich part number, if you are willing to spend a little more try Mike Kokulus, Custom Gun Stock Duplicating at 570-924-3279, Mr Kokulus had a M40 stock in his personal collection that he can duplicate. As for buttplates the early ones are marked with Remington Part #16601 along with another 1 through 4 code number lower down. Wichita swivels weren't actually used on the original M40 rifles, Wichita didn't actually get a contract until 1970, although most people use them. Early Remington 40x or 513T were used, the front swivel is a machine screw and threads into a escutcheon, rear is a wood screw. Check out the thread, its a wealth of info.
