Re: M40 scope suggestions
The USMC M40 is an entirely different kettle of fish from a USMC M40A1. The M40 basically became Remingtons 700 varmint rifle, a bolt action 700 in 308 with a 24 inch barrel with a 1:10 twist, it had a plain uncheckered wood stock with a metal buttplate with a Redfield 3x9x40 accurange on top. While the M40A1 was the Corps upgrade, see all the posts on the M40A1. If you want to go the M40 direction, look for an older factory 700 in 308 with wood stock, seventies or early eighties version, might be a good place to start. Find a Redfield, throw it on top, and you would have a pretty good copy.Numrich has nice uncheckered stocks, that work pretty good.
