A10XRIFLE, first of all want to say I am a big fan of you guys' work but don't get me started on the A5 lol. It seems to me that it violates the first thing they teach you at sniper training, never compromise. Not saying it isn't a fine weapon but shortening the barrel for urban use is a waste and limiting the long range capability. The USMC already has a fine urban sniper rifle in the M25. The A3 is a solid performer and there is no need to fix something that isn't broke. my 2. Ohh I digress have a good one and looking forward to those pics and by all means correct me and tell me why the A5 is necessary </div></div>

A5 is not shortened, they only added suppressor adaptor and a surefire supperssor to the kit. barrel length is still 25"

As Promised, below are pics from the USMC PWS of the crown they use per their spec Via Their Build Procedure.

This was the only complete M40A1 left in the shop but it has the same crown, its the one right above.

So I asked and there has always been a Spec for the USMC Crown and it dates back to 1977. Yes Im sure there were 2112'S that didnt get some exactly right, as if you look closly these crowns varry a touch, but as a whole they keep them pretty darn close. The shop is very impressive and they run a repectivly tight ship there.

I think the A1 was around .900-.920".

Mine is .880", but was built by a 2112 so if it's out of "e-spec" I think I'll be OK...

It's a shame to rattle can a McMillan stock but disappearing in brush, weeds, sand etc. requires added artwork.</div></div>

I respectfully disagree; I think it adds character!

That is interesting because I watched a special on the A5 on the military channel and the special had half an hour talking about shortening the barrel to 20. Of coarse I understand things change all the time in the military and in this case I am happy it did. Very cool pictures, you are a lucky man.
