ETA:
Upon review, the extractor was significantly deformed. I ordered a new one on principle, hopefully it fits. In the meantime, I used a vice and a set of pliers to bend the original back into shape...seems to be working if not wholly trustworthy...remains to be seen if it'll extract fired cases, not just what I've got on hand.

Today I learned that if I drop the bolt to my M70 I can pop the extractor off. Call me butterfingers, this is seemingly a right of passage that all my bolt guns go through.* I got the extractor back on the bolt. However, the extractor is not properly engaging cases from the magazine. It seems like there is too much pressure from the extractor to allow the case smoothly onto the bolt face, so the bolt needs a good amount of force to go forwards. It's not quite a bad as trying to jump the extractor over the rim of a case (which requires something close to a palm heel strike delivered with intent), but it's definitely not running right. Short of ponying up the 60 some bucks for a new extractor, what can I look at or tweak with my current setup to get this girl running like she should again?

*Note: my M70 was already my most finicky rifle in terms of function...and now the only one to be negatively impacted by inadvertently dropping a part. Starting to think this whole CRF business ain't what it's cracked up to be.
