Is there a good reason why Barrett packages the 82's with a 4.5X14 MK4? It seems like maybe that would be a little underpowered for BMG range? Any thoughts?
A Nightforce 5.5-22x or Schmidt 5-25 are some of the best options for the combination of durability, magnification, adjustment range and good reticles.

No there is no good reason. Yes I also feel it is underpowered. Both the Optics mentioned above or my personal favorite the Mk 4 ER/T 6.5-20x50mm M5A FFP with H-58/59 would do.

I ran the 4.5-14mk4 on mr ar50 to 1k with no problems. I dont Have a longer range to shoot at but I didn't think it was at its limit either. The only reason im taking it off is because The mk4 was originally bought for my m1a but then I needed a scope for the .50. Now I'm getting a ss5-20 to put on the .50 so the mk4 is moving back the the m1a
