M995 Sako TRG-S actions

My understanding is this:

Sako took the same action as the tactical TRG's and turned them into hunting rifles. If this is true, these actions should be pretty top notch

My question is:

If one were to pick one of these rifles, what kind of options does one have to turn it into a precision gun.... ie, could one put it in a Manners/McMillan stock or re-barrel it?

I am already aware that this is why the TRG 22/42 exist, but that is not what i'm after

Re: M995 Sako TRG-S actions

As for stock options you can go with the McMillan A5, but you also have to buy their bottom metal. You can also go with a TRG-42 stock, but you also have to run the 42 mag and buy the 42 trigger unit. No problems re-barreling it, as long as your smith will work on them.
It's a very slick and nice action to build off of, but not as many options as some others out there.

Basically I have a line on a used one in .270, and would like to convert it to 6.5-06 or a Swede precision rifle

I'm somewhat indifferent on the TRG since the value is lost with the price of the add-ons.

the only really expensive mandatory sako part is spare mags. you can run harris bipod, put a picatinny rail on it just like any other rifle. trg is probably the only factory rifle on my list of rifle wants. pretty sure it will be the next firearm i buy eventually.

I guess i'm just assuming that factory parts would be just as ridiculously priced in addition to the difficulty of finding them. I'm indifferent on the Sako TRG stock anyway.
