    Thats sad, rip, officer.

Makes you wonder how he let the guy get that close with a rock. A couple of well place rounds and he'd be going home tonight.

Because we keep letting this trash into our country.

Lopes is Portuguese, not Hispanic/Latino, which would be López. New England is full of people with Portuguese derivation surnames.

Portuguese-American, if you'll forgive the hyphen, but eminently acceptable in her time, less the soccer mom BS:

He's not from Portugal. Probably an Afro-mestizo from Brazil.

He could be Cape Verdean or Azorean, too. Everyone's terribly focused on "south of the Mexican border" types. I was merely qualifying him as most likely non-Hispanic. I know that probably doesn't matter to you, but being from up there it's quite likely that his folks came over æons ago.

Accuracy interests me, not mindless assumptions. But go ahead and whip out your calipers.

That's just it. Shit shouldn't matter if he were a bone-dry sober WASP Eagle Scout who lost his nut one day. Been on the wrong side of stupid dumb-shit mouth breather characterizations. I give some grudging benefit of the doubt at first, and I expect it. When it isn't deserved is when shit can and may get deep, long, and continuous.

I'd rather he kill in his country, not mine. YMMV.

That is messed up. You get a cop not afraid of his own shadow and then this shit happens to him. Probably got the drop on him, he didn't see the rock, something. The woman just minding her business taking one in her own home. Damn.

I agree wholeheartedly, if he's here illegally. I'd prefer that he didn't commit capital murder at all. Frankly, I'd simply prefer that nobody did. But saying that without knowing his status is like someone telling me to go the fuck back home. I am home, so that kind of puts my back to the wall with a filled hand, don't it?

Illegal ain't got shit to do with it. Imported trash and I give no fucks what his legal status is.

So, did they just carve you out of a chunk of Kennesaw Mountain? Everybody has roots elsewhere. Have you ever considered the ironic implications of the peculiar institution and the plight of the importing end-users' descendants, especially down yonder?

More times than not, cop shot with own gun didnt want to escalate to that level, and in hindsight should have.
Tried verbal first, and in interviews with cop killers, may have showed hesitation or reluctance, or "something" and the cop killer said, "I knew I owned his ass then", and dead cop.
Considering pre-stop behavior, dead cop AND dead woman, this was a case of "really bad" waiting to be unleashed, and it was.

His pic, eyes and expression, reminds me of a black suited gent I saw once from the pak tribal region. Made the hair on my neck stand up... some people wander all streets just one reaction from being dead, or making you dead.
    Thoughts to the blue family.

Is u be talkings about dat peculiar institution James Oglethorpe did to my redneck debtors prison descendents that had to do imported indentured servitude in the shadows of Kennesaw Mountain to become Georgia residents ?

What needs to give is the capital punishment laws....

Quick trial....conviction....execution within 30 days. Appeals should be case by case not guaranteed and a decision reached quickly. If an appeal is granted, trial needs to occur and conclude within 6 months. Found guilty, execution carried out in 30 days.

The injuns that inhabited that hill once upon a time would agree with me. If your view of the wold prevails, kiss your white ass goodbye. The only upside is, in a world controlled by animals, all civilized rules are void.

I guess you can bring a rock to a gun fight and come out ahead sometimes.........who knew!

The answer is in post #20 in this thread. It's like what happens to the Upham character at the end of "Saving Private Ryan." Probably no business being in the situation, despite commission and job. Sad, but such well intentioned people get through.

The problem with that is that the justice system cant be trusted anymore. The areasting copse should have been better trained in marksmanship, that fuck should not have been cuffed he should have been on a slab.

Probably was not a marksmanship problem. The LEO was not suspicious enough, probably underestimated the evilness residing within the perp. Kind persons often, or usually, have a hard time realizing just how brutal criminals are and can be.

I assume you are referring to AJ’s comment about marksmanship, but I believe he was referring to the cops that made the arrest after he shot the first officer and I have to agree I am surprised they didn’t make Swiss cheese out of this POS.

Gotta tear your spliced, misspelled sentences apart there, Jerry, and stare at them long and hard.

Okay. You have no confidence in the justice system as it currently exists. One wonders if you mean as a whole, or as in the part that enforces laws?

The areasting copse should have been better trained in marksmanship, that fuck should not have been cuffed he should have been on a slab.

And then the second half indicates that functioning justice should have meant a dead perpetrator, right then and there.

Thankfully, that's not how justice works. Justice is procedural. It's inherent in the term "due process." What you want is for law enforcement to be an instantly fulminating agency of your, or their personal wrath, then and there, like a Stallone character with adenoid issues and a ray gun.

We either have laws, or we have relative anarchy. I know your low opinion of police. It's a matter of record here.

Which begs the question: when can we expect you to show up in skinny jeans and a black hoodie?

Sorry VeerG on a small device doing my Alaska trip, so yea much worse than usual grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

No, I have no trust in our justice system at all, sessions on down to the newest rookie.

When you have a broken/corrupt justice system extrajudicial is what is going to happen.

As of now we have relative anarchy.

I don’t have a low opinion of police , just the the two tier justice system they work in.

This was going through my mind when I typed it. However, I differentiate between the procedural part of the capital punishment laws and the judges that implement the law. I agree that many judges can no longer be trusted but the procedural part is also in error.

It should not take 20+ years to execute someone. The number of appeals they get is non-ending with no time limit. Most of the time with these crimes, it is open and shut with witnesses or self admitted. For those, execution should be quick as there is no ambiguity. Not only should it be quick, it should be a surprise like the Japanese do it. No hoopla...no nothing.

Blue source this a.m., related the rock was a high b.c., high velocity, accurately delivered with pro baseball pitcher accuracy, and percentage chances of happening on a semi moving target, were beyond infintessimally small, like all the officers lifetime bad luck came to visit in a split second. Beyond suck...
