Hey guys, how is everybody? anyone have any suggestions on who to send my ma-ten upper to. i want to do either a 260 or 308 build. i would like to have a light weight bull profile, so i was thinking a carbon wrapped barrel, or a heavy fluted barrel. any suggestions on twist, or who to do the upper build? oh yeah i will have whoever i send it to ream and chamber the build for me, thanks and merry christmas!

Build a creedmor and have Mark @ short action customs build it for you with an 8 twist Kreiger.

You could aslo buy a pre spun barrel from lilja or rainier arms. Quicker and cheaper

Get a good quality barrel and do it yourself. Building an AR is a rewarding experience.

+ 1 its freaken easy too..?? I dont see why ppl pay others to do this for them..?? Get a torque wrench, a vise and some other small hand tools, follow the known methods and you're done. Now you have tools to do another one, with the money you would have paid someone else to do the same thing, that really is easy..

I'm waiting for my MA-TEN reciever to arrive this week and I'm sending it to GA Precision. I had the same questions about building vs. buying and got alot of feedback on both ends of the spectrum, plus some things I never thought of. If I can figure out how to post the link to the thread I will. Or you can search "newbie needs help, build or buy"

just got my barrel torqued. built the whole thing myself. im sure the big houses learned a few tricks over the years, but i dont see what else they could have done to this rifle. i need to prep some brass but ill let you know how she shoots

still no range time. there is a shoot coming up but i dont think i can use the 1-4x and be competitive. i want to buy a 10x for it as another option

it took me 1.5 hrs to assemble the upper and lower taking my time. all you need is a DPMS receiver block,vise and a torque wrench to build it,,,and headspace gages to be safe. I have 6.5 Creedmoor if someone needs them

i put my upper between two wood blocks in a vise and got 35 ft lbs easy. didnt buy a block for it. just in case you dont want to buy the dpms block
