A few weeks ago I acquired a new Kimber model 82 gov. from my uncle.

I have been enjoying it very, the fit and feel the accuracy, in short everything about this gun to me is super nice.....except the trigger gaurd!

I can't stand how cheaply made they went on this particular piece. It's just a bent thin band of metal!

So I decided to add my own little touch. I wanted to make it as much like my Seekins BDM trigger gaurd as possible!

So that's exactly what I did. Only instead of aluminum I used 4140 prehard toolsteel.

I am very happy with the way it turned out. Now I just need to modify my stock to match my HS precision and this little train will be complete.

Now I just need to decide how to finish it!

What do you guys think?

Re: Made myself a new trigger gaurd today!!

I'm thinking matte too. I actually would like the whole gun done matte but am not ready to be without it for any extended time!

I also plan on painting the stock camo!

I here ya bud! I'm planning on trimming the front of the stock a little to match my HS precision stock and then plan on painting an od/tan/black camo pattern on it.

I'm looking forward to seeing those pictures... I finished gathering the paperwork today to send off to the CMP, and will be ordering an 82g tomorrow. I have every intention of camoing it when I do finally get it, but then again this'll end up being my dedicated long range rimfire.

That is exactly what mine has become! I'm sure you will be very pleased with your rifle.
•Are you going to mod the stock?
•Do you plan on putting a scope on it?
The Winchester model 52 mount fits and does come in a 20 moa!

The gun just flat out shoots!
This is at fifty yards 5 shots (left)

I have to give the Mauser props. It has a ten dollar 2x tasco scope on it with crosshairs that are too thick to still see the orange dot at 50 yards!

Here is a target I shot a lil over 100 rounds into at 50yards with Remington golden bullets!

Like I said I think you'll really enjoy the rifle!
My stock work begins when I get my hs back from mike at skunkworks!

Re: Made myself a new trigger gaurd today!!

I like seeing 50 yard targets like that.

I will be modifying the stock, but I'm really unsure just how yet. I've been looking online and when I find the design that I like, I'll know it. What do you have in mind for yours?

Thanks for the tip on the Model 52 mount. I'll be needing them because yes, I will be putting some sort of scope on it. I'm not sure what yet though. Maybe a Mueller APT. I've got the APV on a 10/22 and like ot well enough, but we'll see when the time comes. I'm still open.

I'm lucky enough to have three friends that I shot against on a four position league who have 82g's. One of them shot the league with the aperture sights while the other two had scopes on theirs. And although I shot a CZ Ultra Lux with a set of BRNO Olympis Sights on it, they all out shot me.

Re: Made myself a new trigger gaurd today!!

Nice!

Are you going to remove the lower accessory rail?

Because I also shoot in a four position league, and things like palm rests and adjustable sling mounts are helpful, I'm pretty sure that when I "thin" the height of the forearm that I will end up putting the rail back in.

Re: Made myself a new trigger gaurd today!!

If you think that a thin band of metal is "cheap", look at the molded plastic trigger guards on most .22 rifles. I wish that my .17HMR Savage had a "cheap" metal trigger guard instead of a plastic one.
