Magazine Problems with AICS stock

I have a new rifle build with a Badger Ordnance M2008 action in an AICS stock, 260 caliber. I had the action setup to use the AIAW double feed magazines. I'm having feeding problems with the magazine. The magazine is dropping just enough that my bolt will overide the round. If I push up on the magazine while I work the bolt it will feed everytime. I've got new magazines coming so if they work I will know if it is magazine problem. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to correct it, assuming it isn't the magazines?

Re: Magazine Problems with AICS stock

There is too much space between the action and the mag catcher,or the mag catcher is to short. Talk to your rifle builder.

Re: Magazine Problems with AICS stock

Take the skins off and see if there is any daylight between the chassis and action. The bottom of the action may have high spots as did mine. The inlet may have sharp edges that need to be removed to allow the action to sit lower in the stock. I had the same problem with a stock that badger inlet for me. Badger said that the manufacturing tolerances on the A.W. mag were not consistant. Who milled your stock? You may just need a longer mag catch and fit it yourself.

Thanks for the input. G A Precision built the rifle for me but I've been waiting to see if I have the same problem with other magazines before going back to them.

One or the other is your issue.

Re: Magazine Problems with AICS stock

I have resolved my problem. I order three new magazines from Triad Tactical, excellant response time. When they came in I loaded 10 rounds in a magazine and feed them through the rifle, I did this three times for each magazine. I didn't have single failure to feed. I made it to the range today to get 100 to 600yd zeros. I fired 80 rounds all of them feed from the three magazines in 5 round groups with only one failure to feed and that was on the first round. Good chance that was something I did wrong since it didn't repeat. Based this I believe I have a defective magazine that came with the rifle.

Would like to thank everyone for their input. I really appreciate it.

Re: Magazine Problems with AICS stock

This is an old thread but I have a definitive fix on my problem and thought I would include it in case someone else has this problem and reads this thread.

I thought the new magazines had solved my problem but after a while I started having the same problems with the new magazines. I talked to the gunsmith and he thought the magazine release lever may have been to short. When they fit the M2008 receiver in an AICS chassis the stock has to be some inletted which makes the release lever to long and some metal has to be removed.

Rather than paying for shipping to send the rifle back to the gunsmith plus the time that it would take to have the work done, I just replaced the lever myself. It seems that the original lever had been shortened about 0.025" too much based on the length I ended up with. One thing that I notice is the magazine can lock in place but just be a little too high and the both will barely catch on the follower. I just had to take another 0.0005" to solve this.

I've run about 200 rds equally distributed over 4 magazines and I've not had a single failure.
