Magneto Speed sporter and app

So I just purchased a new magneto speed sporter and I have downloaded the app on my iPhone but can’t get them to sync. I know they sell the adapter kit but it looks like it’s just a mic cord, has anyone been able to pair up the 2 or is it necessary to buy the adapter kit?

The connection is physical via the audio jack on your phone, not wireless between the phone & the Sporter...

You need their cable... I am not sure what makes it special but it's not just audio jack line your aux audio cable.
