Anyone running one of these in 22LR?

I was just starting to look for a stainless donor 10/22 action to put together a liteweight practice rifle. When I look at the price of the carbon barrel, stock, and action parts, I will probably be more $ than one of the 4# Magnum research rifles out of the box for $629.

I did not want to dry fire the models I handled, so how is the trigger in these? Do they need any action upgrades?

Thanks
Randy

Re: Magnum Research Magnumlite rifles?

My dad has an older one. He had a trigger put in it I assume because the factory trigger was bad or it may have been a factory ruger trigger. Good gun though. Reasonably accurate for what is basically a ruger with a fancy barrel. The weight is fantastic.

I would put one together over a factory one,

Re: Magnum Research Magnumlite rifles?

Went and looked at the current rifles online just now. Looks like they are their own receiver. Not sure if my dads is or not, I would assume it is. It's a little bit finicky on ammo but other than that and the trigger it's great.

I've built 5 on Ruger receivers using the MR barrels. All put 5 rounds into one hole @ 50 yards with Wolf MT, and shoot Power Points almost as good.

They are nice little guns. I put mine on a axiom stock and made it super lite.

Good little rifles--but like everyone says plan on a trigger. You may also want to look at Tactical Solution rifles as well. Either way plan on a trigger.
The tactical solutions can be had with a threaded barreI.

I have both and can not tell much difference in accuracy. Also have the MR in 22mag with stainless barrel
