Does Magpul indeed have a Generation 3 back up sight set out now? I can only find one reference to it on a web search.

If you are referring to the MBUS-Pro sights...no, they are NOT available yet. Expected release was pushed back to "late summer 2013" with no more specific timeline given at this point.
DSG Arms is/was running a pre-order for them, but again...you may get them in July or you may get them in January...lots going on with Magpul bc of the exodus from CO, etc.

I don't think they are the "Pro" sights. I found some for sale and since they were unfamiliar to me I was doing a little research. After looking back at the ad, I think it is a misleading ad. Seller says they are Magpul Gen 3 and they look like the Gen 2 models, but something makes me think they are PTS imported sights.
There is no such thing as a "Gen 3" MBUS sight.
There are the original MBUS, the Gen 2 (current production version of the MBUS) and the upcoming MBUS-Pro offering due out later this year.
If someone is advertising "Gen 3 MBUS" for sale, either they have NO IDEA what they are selling, they are selling something that they know to be something else trying to pull one over on unknowing customers, or they are cheap Chicom/Korean/etc. airsoft knock-offs (PTS or otherwise) being marketed as Gen 3 MBUS for some reason...if they are PTS...they'll be marked conspicuously enough to tell if the seller is using actual photos of the sights and not generic or stock images.

I think they are using a photo of the Magpul Gen 2 sight set and calling it a Gen 3. I have sent a message to the seller and asked for specifics, but I concur that there is no such critter! The "Model" in the auction is clearly listed as "PTS Gen 3."
They are airsoft garbage through and through! Fine for your average airsoft warrior, but I wouldn't put them on a "real" rifle and I certainly wouldn't care to trust them holding up (much less my life to them).

Thanks for all the input. The guy messaged me back and said they were imported. After that I knew they were basically for Airsoft.
