Stuff like this really aggravates me, I have several and they all do it...

An easy fix, round up a 3/32" drill bit and 3/16" bit, (no tap required), and one 4-40 x 3/4" long socket head cap screw. A drill press is nice, but a hand drill will work just as well, just keep it square to the stock.

Drill a 3/32" hole through the thick part of the cover....

Slide it back on the stock, use the hole you just drilled as a template and drill the stock....

Remove the cover and drill the countersink just deep enough let the screw head set below the surface. The screw will form it's own threads as you screw it in the plastic.....

That's a good idea.

It's to a point that now it's just natural for me reach with my support hand to slide that blasted cover closed with any rifle after using the PRS. Thanks for the tip!
