I know a lot of you guys are making it out of 243 brass, but with the availability of 308 brass I was wondering if I have the steps right.

Run the 308 brass in a 7-08 die to avoid the stress of going straight to 260.

Run the brass that you put in the 7-08 through the 260 f/l size die and you have 260 brass.

Some necks may need to be turned

Reason I ask is that I am contemplating building a 260 instead of a 308 again.

Re: making 260 brass

i like to have my brass properly headstamped for the gun i am shooting

i shoot both a 260 and 308, i have 2 buddies you are heavy in 243's and another buddy with a 7-08ai and we all shoot alot of 308

it just makes it easy to find my brass at a match or range, and let me keep it sorted on the bench.

what you are saying will work, but to me it would cause confusion down the road

now as far as 260 brass goes either shoot the good stuff lapua, norma or nosler if you want or can afford to

or shoot the r.p. brass or make it from win 7/08 (i could see necking down 7-08 brass as it is not that popular)

i personally shoot the r.p. brass it shoots just great however i am tossing cases at 3 firings due to primer pockets

i will bite the bullet and shoot lapua brass next go around, its worth it to me

most of us have $4k easy in our gun and optic what is an extra $50 for better brass?

Re: making 260 brass

using a rcbs basic fls die and sizing lube you can do it in one step
the rcbs die has a hole in the body to allow the lube buildup to leak out...not denting the shoulder

or you could just use the crappy rem brass... much worse than my 7mmsaum brass

both shoot really well... less than .5 moa
