Gentlemen, I am in the process of making a dope card for my 223. I realize that there is no substitute for physically shooting at all the desired distances. Will using the JBM calc. put me on paper as long as i enter all info correctly? Then from there i can hone in the specific adjustments? Am i thinking correctly? Any info would be appreciated. thanks

Dont rely on a chronos readings to hone your FPS. Find your dope at multiple ranges, the further the better. Make the calc match your dope. The more points on the arc you have the better.

This has been talked about in many different threads.

Yes JBM will work very well for what you want. It's what I use for all my matches and I have never been off more than about .2 mils at 1000 which is 7.2".

Folks speak bad about ballistic programs and chronos but if you put in good info then you get good data. That's also assuming you have checked your scope out and it tracks correctly as if it doesn't all bets are off.

My SPS tactical likes 75gr. BTHP match Hornady. They say out of a 24 in. barrel it produces 2790fps. How much different will my 20" barrel be from this?

Find a friend with a chrono and run some rounds over it. Preferably atleast 10. That will give you a good number to put into a ballistics program. Anything else will be a guess and with ballistic programs the old saying "garbage in, garbage out" really applies.

Some gun shops and ranges have chronos as well and let you use them for a charge so if you don't know anyone then you might call around. That said being in AZ you should be able to find someone on this board to help as well.
