Making decisions... 700SPS...

I have two SPSs. One in 223 and one in 308. I pretty much want the 223 for target shooting and learning long range shooting on. The 308 is my new deer hunting rifle. I put a B&C M40 on my 223... I put a boyds on my 308. I have a vortex crossfire scope on the 308, I went out and zeroed the rifle. It got the best groups I have ever shot with a center fire. 2 inch groups. Now I know that isn't a great group with the present company, but it was good for me. Now I'm sitting here reading and start info regret the boyds and thinking I'll swap the B&C after deer season and start saving for a better optic. Throw more of a target stock on the 223. Give me some advice. Should I focus on just one caliber? I want to learn to be a better shooter, reload, basics. Thanks for reading.

Depends on end use for each rifle.

I'd set up 223 in same configuration as 308, use the 223 to practice at lower cost then the 308. Depending on bullet used in 223, can duplicate ballistics of 308 also. Is your 223 SPS a 9 twist barrel?

Yes the 223 is a 9 twist. I forgot to mention I also have a timney trigger coming for the 308. The only end use of each is the 308 is hunting, the 223 will be target.
