I have a M&P 40c with the factory black finish on it and I want to have the black taken off and have it shiny stainless steel color..polished finish. I dont want to do a firearm coating since it will chip off of the barrel-ejection port every time it ejects a round. I was wondering if this is possible. Sand blast off the Melonite black finish and polish the metal underneath to make it shiny. If this is possible, will I have to polish it on a regular basis?..will it rust?..or can I just clean the gun as normaland it would be ok?. It has "stainless" stamped in the side of the slide so I would imagine it is stainless. Here is a picture of the way I want it....(this is not mine)....I just dont now how to do it. I like to try stuff myself. Any info is greatly appreciated.

As Roscoe mentioned, hard chrome or you could polish the sides of the slide for a two tone look like this.
