I picked up a MCS-T stock from Manners a while back. This was before they started making the adjustable version. For the rig that I am shooting, I don't have a good cheek weld when shooting prone. Anyone have a recommendation on how to remedy this. The best option that I have come up with is to use a Karsten cheek piece. The stock packs don't fit the stock well so that option is out. If the Karsten is the best option, does anyone have a picture of the Karsten on this particular stock or any other Manners stock?

Highly valid question but I believe the mold is different for the stock with the adjustable cheek piece....

Re: Manners MCS-T Cheek Rest

I called Manners about a week after they introduced the adjustable version and it is indeed a completely different mold. There is no retro-fitting. So moving past that idea, what else have you got?

Just a thought, too bad that won't work.

I called the maker of the hardware (terry cross) and you can buy the hardware from him. If you or someone you know has the ability to do the install. Im sure it doesn't make sense for manners to tackle it, but it might be worth it for you to figure it out. It sells for under 50.00.

The problem with retro-fitting your current stock is cutting through the exterior shell will introduce an enormous loss of integrity.

. . . exactly.

Cutting away the comb of a solid molded stock is not a good idea for about 893 reasons, with the one above being reason number 1.

Re: Manners MCS-T Cheek Rest

A field expedient solution is to use cardboard and duct tape to make the riser you need, then use industrial strength velcro to secure it in place when you're shooting prone. Ugly, yet effective.

Does the stock pack extend out past the rear of the comb?

Do you have a picture of your setup?

head2h2o,
You should just do the same thing I did to my rifle... You see how well it works, and its not pretty but you can put a stock pack over it!

Re: Manners MCS-T Cheek Rest

This probably isn't what you want to hear...but I borrowed some craft foam with adhesive backing from my kids, cut it to my desired shape and kept adding additional layers until the height was right and then duct taped over the top of it. It should hold up to the weather better than cardboard and it is easily removable in case I end up selling the stock, or I come up with something better.

I used a Eagle stock pack from Triad on my T. Raised it about 1/4" but you could add foam if you need more.

The original T has a pretty tall comb the way it is.
