I am new to this and am working on my first build. I have had a few questions along the way and you all have been very helpful. Thanks.

I have a left handed Remington 700 SPS-V. I bought a Manners MCS-T3 stock that has pillars installed and Badger BDM.

Now on to my question:
My rifle has the stock recoil lug and the stock is inlet for an over sized lug.

Do I need to/or should I bed the lug, or do I just install and shoot the way it is? If I do bed the lug, should I do the whole stock as well?

Thanks again for the help.

Bed the whole thing, you can always hog it out later if you ever rebarrel and go with the larger lug.

It is recommended anyways that you bed any aftermarket stock.

Re: Manners MCS-T3 Recoil Lug Opening

No doubt bedding the lug or whole receiver/barrel pad would help achieve a 100% contacting interface between stock and barreled action.

Will this necessarily improve accuracy? It Depends. If the rear of the recoil lug is already making good contact with the stock inlet and the pillars are making good contact without putting the receiver in a bind than NO.

But the odds of these key issues coming together in perfect harmony are slim to none.

As to your question about dropping it in. The rear of the lug (also the face of the receiver) are generally close to the same amongst all remington actions.

I would drop it in and shoot it, if it shoots terrible and you don't have plans to rebarrel in the near future than have it bedded. If you are just trying to save money until you get the funds for a rebarrel/upgrade than I would leave it alone.
